Wheat Poem

Moon round and heavy with harvest
Surely smiling down a
Dusting of blessings and warmth
Surrounding us like seasons and soil
The stars have all scattered
Strewn about carelessly
In a darkening sea
You speak to me in hushed sweet tones
Slow and thick like honey
Sound of crickets and tree frogs from afar
Grasshoppers jump in failing light
Old Deere hums in the distance
Wending its way home
The wheat getting excited
Heads move from side to side
Looks like waves in low tide
As I rock you like a boat on its open water
